What are lactation biscuits?
Also known as âbreastfeeding cookiesâ lactation biscuits are packed with powerful galactagogues - oats, flax and brewerâs yeast - all foods which are historically linked to increasing milk supply. Breastfeeding mums eat lactation biscuits to support breastmilk supply. Our hot choccy is packed with extra Brewerâs yeast.
How often should I drink the lactation hot chocolate?
We recommend mums consume 1-2 cups per day around 1 hour before the feed you wish to top-up or pump for to maximise results. Compliment with 1-2 Ollie Tots lactation biscuits per day.
Galactagogues are foods that are thought to help increase or support breastmilk supply, typically by increasing prolactin levels. Active galactagogues in Ollie Tots mixes include Australian oats, brewerâs yeast and organic flaxseed. Lactation biscuits generally work to support breastmilk supply 1 â 2 days after eating them. Or as quickly as overnight.
We recommend breastfeeding mums eat 1-2 biscuits a day to support supply, as needed. The ABA states DEMAND = SUPPLY. In conjunction with any lactation & breastfeeding biscuits, cookies, or drinking chocolate removing milk from the breast is the best way to support your breastmilk supply.
Yes! Your entire family will enjoy our biscuit mixes as a delicious treat. Lactation bickies are perfectly safe for everyone to eat (and only a lactating mum will notice a change to lactation!).
Women have been using these key nutritional ingredients for centuries to help support their milk supply. Often passed on by midwives, most breastfeeding mums have a âsecretâ ingredient to upping their milk supply. Many swear by oats, flax and brewerâs yeast â all found in the Ollie Tots range.
Please note: All our lactation support mixes are made to compliment an established feeding regime, keeping hydrated and a healthy diet. If you feel you have greater breastmilk supply issues, we strongly advice you reach out to a lactation consultant, the ABA or a medical professional. Lactation biscuits or drinks are not quick fix to increase your milk supply and if you have supply issues, you need to speak to a medical professional.
Brewerâs yeast:
Brewerâs yeast for milk supply is often called a âsuper foodâ thanks to its highly-digestible protein level, minerals, vitamin B, key amino acids and chromium which all support healthy milk supply. Brewerâs yeast helps to replenish the key nutrients breastfeeding mums need.
Flaxseed:
Flaxseeds have strong estrogenic properties. Flaxseed is also a great source of omega 3 fatty acids, alpha-linolenic acid and phytoestrogens â essential for babyâs growth.
Oats:
Oats contain plant estrogens, which are linked to the stimulation of milk glands. Oats also contain a fibre called Beta-glucan - which boosts the levels of prolactin - the hormone responsible for producing milk.
A packet mix. That way you can tailor them completely to your needs. If your diet is dairy-free our Original Oat & Flax mix can substitute butter for coconut oil. Or, you can add your own extra ingredients like peanut butter or raisins. Itâs completely up to you.
The best part is you can make the dough, freeze the pre-shaped biscuits and bake them completely fresh as needed. This helps you control supply by pausing your intake for a few days or weeks until you need to top up again. No stale biscuits! Plus, who doesnât love hot gooey chocolate bickies straight from the oven?
Absolutely! We recommend you make up the dough, portion it into 17 biscuits and then pop them in the freezer, separated with baking paper, until you are ready to bake them. The mix will last in the freezer for 6 months.
Our mixes are designed to be made and ready right before birth. Some mothers like to start their lactation biscuit journey from 36 weeks to help support their milk supply right on time for when baby arrives. Our biscuits taste so good, we guarantee youâll enjoy them long after your breastfeeding journey.
You can! Although we think they taste best baked fresh from frozen dough. If youâd like to freeze them once theyâve been baked, simply let them cool down and freeze in an airtight container. To reheat from frozen, pop them in the oven for 5 minutes. Fully bakes biscuits will last 4-6 weeks in the freezer.
Your order will be shipped within 48 hours of purchase! Please allow extra time during busy holiday periods.
Unfortunately we donât accept change of mind returns however if your purchase arrives faulty or damaged please get in touch via info@ollietots.com.
